Setting Secret Questions and AnswersΒΆ
Important
As soon as your staff access their Portal account for the first time, please advise them to log into the Portal to:
- Reset their password straight away.
- Set their 3 Secret Questions & Answers straight away.
Government employees - in DoE Staff Portal, select Change Password in the top right-hand corner of the Home page.
Select set up your secret question and answers link in right hand column.

External users, ie. Teacher Applicants and Non-Government school staff - in DoE Extranet, select Change secret questions in the top right-hand corner of the Home page.

All users - on the Secret question page, select 3 secret questions, enter an answer and confirm the answer, enter your current Password and click <Save>.

The 3 Secret Questions and Answers are used as a prompt for staff to reset their password themselves the next time it is due to expire or has expired. Passwords expire every 60 days.
The answers should be ones which only you know. It also assists to prevent against unauthorised access of your account by trying to reset the password using the Secret Questions & Answers.
Selecting I’ve forgotten my password link on the Portal Login page will ask you to enter your DEC User ID which presents you with your 3 Secret Questions to answer and Validate before being able to reset your password.
